I will soon be insulating an old wooden shed that is currently completely uninsulated.
It is an old tool shed with 45x70 studs set somewhat irregularly, and then an outer wall of (4/5"x1") planks. The outer wall is in good condition, well-maintained.
I plan to add more studs to achieve standard measurements of 60 cm on center, while also improving stability, and to clad the inside with OSB to easily hang up tools, gardening equipment, etc.
I also plan to add insulation to keep the temperature around 5-10 degrees in winter, as I will have a ride-on lawnmower, sand/salt, and may even use it as a workshop.

I have asked a couple of builder friends who, of course, have given different answers regarding moisture/vapor barriers and plastic sheeting.
Since it is not a significant cost, I am happy to add a vapor barrier if it helps to avoid problems with moisture and condensation.
Can I place plastic sheeting directly over the insulation on the inside and then screw the OSB boards directly onto the plastic?
 
If the purpose is to keep some machinery and salt/sand dry during the winter, you don't need to insulate at all. If it's well-drained around, most things will manage, and it will be dry inside. But for comfort heat while tinkering, I would use stone wool and a more modern wind barrier on the inside before OSB. I avoid plastic as much as possible unless I can be 100% sure to make everything airtight.
 
The main reason I want to insulate is to both spare the lawn tractor from cold starts during snow clearing (and my butt from a cold seat) and to avoid frozen sand. I appreciate the tip about wind cloth, I will probably go with that. Drainage isn't a problem, so I haven't worried about that. In the spring, I'll probably install waterborne heating...

Now you have to explain to a novice. But what purpose does the windbreaker serve on the inside of the insulation? Shouldn't it be more useful between the insulation and the facade?

I believe it allows moisture to travel and not remain stagnant if one decides to leave the place unheated, if I remember correctly :)
