Hello! I have now chiseled out a basement floor and plan to insulate and install waterborne underfloor heating. The local hardware store says that regular white cell plastic works well. The house was drained in 2010, and I have moisture-measured the concrete floor to 0.6%, and in some wooden pieces that were under the floor, it was 23% moisture.

I was thinking of installing double 50mm boards.
 
Maybe I should have written it differently :)
Is regular cellular plastic sufficient or should I invest twice as much in proper ground insulation?
 
Done it myself too. I used pordrän 100mm instead of gravel at the bottom, then 200mm of foam board, used s100. My advice is to go up to s100 at least, also thicker 100mm feels thin, a lot of heat goes downwards, but it might be impossible, then 100 is always better than nothing.
 
I also recommend s100. A little easier to work with, I think, it feels like you can stomp around on it a bit more, S80 is a bit too soft.

And if you're going up to s100, you might as well take foam plastic with slightly better insulating properties if you can't fit more than 100mm.

I used this in my laundry room. Only had space for 200mm and it felt better with a slightly lower lambda :)
 
Okay! Well, I have coarse sand/rock underneath, so I'll see how much I can dig out :)
 
A group of craftsmen who were here and had a look thought that 100 mm is sufficient. I read some table somewhere and came to the same conclusion. In the end, it was two layers of 70 mm regular white S80-cellplast.

I was a bit tempted by the black cellplast but at that moment, it was a bit urgent and it's a special order item.
