I've recently moved into an old house. I'm having some issues with one of the bedrooms as the lime plaster is in poor condition and falling off. From what I've observed, the interior walls are made of clay brick and plaster, while the exterior walls are brick, wood, and plaster.
The plan now is to make a durable repair, which involves putting up new interior walls by framing, installing OSB boards, and then drywall on top. But the problem is that I'm not quite sure how to proceed, as I've never done anything like this before.
1 - How should the studs be mounted in each type of wall? Do I need to chip away the plaster?
2 - What distance should I have between the studs?
3 - Should I place the studs both horizontally and vertically?
4 - What type of studs should I use to get a suitable air gap?
A lot of questions at once, but I really want to be sure before I start. I have tools and the like, and I'm fairly handy, so I'm not completely without knowledge.
