I'm considering building a straight staircase and have a few questions about how it should be mounted. Should the stringers be screwed into the joist and/or down at the floor? Should the staircase stand on the parquet or on the "raw" floor?
How should the steps be attached to the stringers (no visible screws)? Do you assemble the staircase first and then raise it? I don't have the ability to attach it to the wall. The stringers are underneath, see attached file.

My tip is to check out some stair manufacturers' websites, some of them have installation instructions for theirs that you could take a look at.
Installed a new straight staircase in a new build not too long ago.
Are we talking about a staircase inside a house, neat and stylish? If you want it to look the best, you should rout grooves in the stringers and screw from the side, then use wooden plugs for the screws.
You install the staircase at the bottom and do NOT place it on a floating floor. Preferably on the subfloor in case you ever decide to change the flooring.
It sounds like the simplest/most attractive option for you is to buy/order a pre-made staircase and install it.
New staircases should be screwed with proper screws and NOT glued, since glue can make stairs "creak."
Best regards, Michael

Hello!
I inquired about a staircase and thought it was a bit too expensive. I have 3D-CAD and can easily design a staircase and order it. The stringers won't be visible since I have walls on both sides (non-load bearing). Should I screw the steps from underneath with long screws, or should I use cam lock fittings like those from IKEA?
