I am going to install a newly renovated cast iron stove in our cottage. The old ugly one with cracked enamel will be removed, and I will also remove the old masonry and build new. What kind of brick should I choose? It is intended that the brick will not be plastered but visible. What type of mortar should I use?

It is probably mostly a question of the aesthetic aspects. Possibly it may differ if you want to utilize the insulating or heat-storing properties of the brick. Håltegel is probably more suitable for insulation.

Thank you for the response. I interpret it as I can choose the brick that I think looks the best. However, I'm a bit surprised that mortar C is recommended, I thought one would use mortar B.

C withstands heat better, is a bit more elastic.
