We have an old root cellar on the property, a model with an earthen mound and stone vault. The stone vault is made of natural stone and is not more than a few decimeters in height, so I can't even understand how it holds... Now, the root cellar has stood for ~100 years and should stand for much longer, but it would feel better if someone who knows could take a look at it...
So where can you find someone who knows about stone vaults? It doesn't seem like something an ordinary structural engineer can?
