Hello!
We need a straight indoor staircase and some tips for this.
Our thoughts are on a beam staircase. A sturdy square tube with welded steps. It should be minimalist.
Glass railing on one side (wall on the other). Upstairs, there should be a glass railing/fence that matches the staircase.
Has anyone made their own or have other cheaper solutions?
We received a quote of an outrageous 160,000kr!! for a staircase with glass railing. Complete from a company that specializes in this.
Laminated beam instead of steel?
Are there companies that can cut and make the glass for the railing according to your own drawings?
How have you done it?

  • Minimalist staircase with wooden steps and a dark metal beam against a white brick wall.
If you're reasonably handy with carpentry and welding, you can easily put it together using a kkr pipe, some sheet metal, and a solid oak countertop.

If you want to skip the welding part, you can order the frame from a local metalworking company. It shouldn't cost too many thousands.

The glass part is more of a challenge. Tempered glass is expensive, and even more so are the processing and mounting parts. Maybe it's worth considering a sleek wrought iron railing instead?

I built such a staircase for outdoors:
Outdoor staircase with galvanized steel frame, wooden oak steps, and a red handrail, leading to a house entrance.
Designed everything myself and a local smithy made the steel parts in galvanization. I recall the price for the steel details was around 30 kkr. I made the steps in oak and installed them on-site.
Keep in mind that this will be quite heavy, so ensure that your floors can support it.
