When I cut mine, I fastened a spirit level with clamps and then sawed along it, leaving no chips on the boards.

I used a guide rail where I cut them and a jigsaw when I needed to make a hole in the middle of a few pieces.
Where I used the jigsaw, there were naturally some chips, but it was just a matter of brushing them off.
