For someone who isn't initiated, what is the secret? In the picture, it seems to be any "måttband" at all?

With the fold-out tab, you don't have to remember measurements. Take the measurement and leave it unfolded. Then mark on the workpiece with the sharp markers.

The trick with a tally stick and plaster is that you can measure and then scribe directly with the tally stick without a ruler and knife.

Agree... The measurer is fantastic and makes the tape measure feel quite redundant... internal measurements, marking functions, measurement locking, circumference measurement...

But it's quite annoying when you sometimes read the wrong numbers and end up with the workpiece 10cm too short or too long You need to stay alert.

The folding rule will never become obsolete.
It's good for distance, pulling things through walls, pulling cable on cable ladders, fishing for things, lifting the right ceiling panels, making angles, measuring, etc.

I think it was Mathias who wrote that once. Someone who came and helped us one day used a folding ruler and we discussed folding ruler vs tape measure.
And when I said that the folding ruler is good for stirring paint with, he thought it was unnecessarily harsh, then he hasn't come to help anymore... :O

(But that probably has nothing to do with the folding ruler talk, after all. Most people have a lot going on constantly, him included)
