Hi
The daughter swung back and forth on a monkey bar at school. But when dad tried, I couldn't even manage a single chin-up.
Okay, I need to fix something at home, I thought. In connection with a tree felling, I got some opportunities as you can see in the pictures.
But how would you attach the beam in a sensible way?
I'm thinking of drilling out with a wide drill from the top to maybe half the beam and then driving in some extra long lag screws if you can find those.
Ideally, you'd also want a thick steel band to strap over the beam and screw into the "posts," but where can you find that?

All ideas on how you would attach the beam are gratefully received.
Regards
Fredrik

  • A wooden beam is tied with rope to a tree stump in a forest setting, part of a homemade playground project.
  • Wooden beam setup between two tree stumps in a forest, with additional wooden planks on the ground and construction materials nearby.
Have done something similar but had a fork to place the log in, I secured with steel bands from Biltema available on a roll, has holes for screwing in.

If the beam is, for example, 25cm high: notch 20cm in the post, 2.5 cm in the beam, drill a 30mm hole straight through the post and beam, whittle a reasonably dry branch and drive it through. The beam is now 2.5cm above the post, so attach a couple of wide boards as a "roof" over the post. A rough suggestion off the top of my head!
