carport construction:
Posts should be placed in pier blocks of the type where 2 flat irons protrude, and there is a galvanized plate at the bottom (top) of the pier block - from Byggmax.
Question: Should the posts go all the way down to the bottom of the iron, against the galvanized plate, maybe with sill paper in between? Or should they "hang in the air" and only be fastened with screws going through them? The first option is good for stability (?) but perhaps makes them more susceptible to moisture seeping in due to direct contact without ventilation. Maybe do this but use treated wood? Suggestions are gratefully accepted!
Best regards,
