How to replace a threshold?

I'm going to replace the threshold in an old door frame and it's made of metal. How should I proceed? It's quite high compared to new thresholds.

Normally, you would just take out the saw and cut up the old one and put in a new one. But the sparse info that it's made of metal does make me hesitant. It could be an entire steel frame, making the threshold and the frame a single unit.

Is the entire threshold made of metal, or is there a wooden beam underneath that makes it higher? Is the door frame made of metal or wood? How are they connected? Etc.

Hi, I've checked it out properly unfortunately I didn't have the camera at home so I couldn't take a picture, but it's coming. It seems like there's wood with metal over it. The frame around it is wood. So should it just be a matter of sawing along the frame down, cutting it off, and then breaking it up? Then just buying a threshold and putting it there? Can you buy a ready-made threshold? I've never fixed a threshold before, so I don't know how it's constructed

You probably don't need to be so precise about cutting along the frame. It's easier to break and bend if you have a small piece left to hold onto. Cut the threshold in the middle and just break off the pieces.

Thresholds can be purchased at most hardware stores. I bought mine at K-Rauta. 129 SEK/each.

At K-Rauta, the thresholds were pre-cut for certain frame widths and require a specific frame profile. I solved this by buying a threshold for a wider door/frame and cutting it myself to fit my frame.

If you still want a higher threshold, you can just build up with some sort of support under the new threshold.
