I have an old wardrobe in a children's room that I would like to repaint. However, it has a damage where it has cracked open. How do I fix this best? Knife and filler? Or do you dare to use a sander for this? Grateful for tips and advice!

  • Close-up of a damaged wardrobe door with peeling paint and a visible crack near the hinge, in need of repair.
Buy a new wardrobe door!
Much cheaper than trying to fix it, the door is cracked.

Have been searching but can't find any with the right measurements. There are two sitting next to each other with different measurements. It becomes a bit too costly with custom-built ones, so I would prefer to try to repair first!

Remove the door.
Remove hinges.
Apply slow-curing epoxy into all cracks.
Place plastic film on both sides of the damage.
Place a straight and fine piece of wood on both sides of the damage.
Clamp with two clamps.

Coffee break 24 hours.

Remove clamps, wood pieces, and plastic film.
Sand.
Paint.
