Got a free plywood sheet from the building store that was black-speckled on one side. What's the best/easiest way to remove this? I'm going to build a tool holder out of the sheet.

I really want to fix it since plywood is so expensive, I can't say no to a free sheet :D

  • A plywood sheet with black specks and discoloration on one side, leaning against a tiled floor, intended for making a tool holder.
Sandpaper is probably the best/easiest. Use a face mask or stay outside with the wind in the right direction.

Is it irony? A plywood sheet isn't that expensive. Probably as cheap to buy a new one as it is to buy what you need to remove the mold.

Rickard.
Sanding it off is probably the only thing that works if you want it bare wood.

Wash with chlorine or burn with a little fire. It would look nice anyway.

Just bought the cheapest 12mm sheet I found in the entire city for 700kr. 700kr is a lot of money for most people. Good for you that you're well off :)

Ok! Perfect!

But what is the point of removing it? When it is dry, you can liken it to someone having splashed paint on it or something.......Mold does not spread in any way.

That's just it, it's not nice.

Are they gold boards? I buy for 200-350 sek depending on size and thickness.

A full-size 12mm seems to cost almost 400kr with VAT here, probably a bit less for those with really good deals, so I agree that the OP's prices were high, but yours sound very cheap after the price increases.

Negotiated well ;) what I think is that it’s unnecessary work/cost to fix up a mold-damaged plywood so it should replace a new one for a few hundred bucks. I could have taken it, but then I would have used it somewhere I wouldn't care about how it looked.

Still, a free sheet is a free sheet. Perfect when you don't have a big budget to work with :)
