In the garden, several iron rods are sticking up from concrete pillars. The previous homeowner probably planned to put up some kind of fence in the lawn. I keep tripping over them (haha) and want to remove them. Do you have to dig them up, or can you saw off the iron rods in some way?

I would probably have dug them up, but it's likely possible to saw them off, perhaps easiest with an angle grinder.

Take a tractor or wheel loader and pull them up. This way you avoid the job of digging and they disappear without the vessels being able to push them up.

hmm I don't have such machines...

Dynamit?

Chain for the tow hitch on the car. And.. take it easy..

how drastic you are! haha. I can't get a car into the garden. I guess I'll have to send the man to dig...

Then we'll use a slightly less drastic method. A suitably long lever and something to pivot over, like a sturdy piece of wood or similar. It should be possible to attach the lever to the sticks and then apply some force on the other end so

Attach a thicker beam or board to the irons and use a bottle jack under this, and calmly and gently lift the foundation block this way; a few resets will surely be needed when the jack reaches its maximum height. This way, you'll avoid having a garden torn up by machines and can handle this at your own pace. Unless the foundation block is dowelled into the rock...
