Hi,
I have a high deck where I plan to place a hot tub. Filled and with 7 heavy people in it, it will weigh about 3 tons.
The deck is built out from a beam attached to the wall. Under the deck, I have a concrete ledge extending about 1.20m. Currently, the ledge is a few decimeters below the beams, but I thought I’d put in some bricks so the beams will rest on these. The hot tub is 2.3m wide so only half of the hot tub will rest over the ledge while the rest will be on the part of the deck that does not have solid support underneath.
In the other part of the deck (about 4m out from the wall), the load-bearing beams rest over a crossbeam supported by 4 vertical wooden beams + concrete foundation.

I'm not quite sure how to think here because half of the hot tub will essentially be on "solid" ground and the other half will rest on the overhanging part... Do I need to reinforce much on the overhanging part? If the tub was a block of solid metal, it would stay in place if the ledge reached out a bit farther than halfway with the risk of tipping if pushed... But if it rested on beams extending beyond, you wouldn't be able to tip it, and the pressure on the overhanging part shouldn't be very large...

Diagram showing deck structure with hot tub placement, highlighting concrete footing and support beams. Text indicates additional support with bricks or concrete blocks.

45x170 beams with 60cm on center are currently installed. I thought to put extra beams under the tub to make it 30cm on center. (The deck planks are 28mm)

No one knows?

If you run with a 45*170 across instead of the bricks. Maybe 2 pcs.

It's just a matter of adding another joist or two.
And put in a few extra pillars.

Thank you for the response,
yes, I can use a rule instead of a brick, but what I'm really wondering about is how to think about the overhanging part that is not supported by the cast piece. Whether it is significantly affected by the weight of the bath or if it just needs to withstand the "tipping" force...
