How to mount a wall-hung water heater on the wall.
I will try to attach a wall-mounted water heater to the existing laundry room wall. The house is a Gullringshus from '82.
In the laundry room, right next to the studs, there is a board that isn't drywall but more like particle board? What kind of board is this? The whole house has this in the walls. Masonite, particle board?
The water heater to be mounted on the wall is 150l and weighs about 180kg.
What can the board material handle if you screw directly into the wall with proper wood screws?
My plan is to attach 2 studs directly on the wall into the wall's framework, about 45x70 straight across, and then screw the water heater into the studs and the wall.
What do you think? 😅

It's tretex, it cannot hold anything attached to it. But the drywall can hold much more.J J.Andersson said:I'm trying to attach a wall-mounted water heater to the existing laundry room wall. The house is a gullringshus from '82.

What I've planned is to attach 2 studs directly on the wall surface into the wall framing, like 45x70 straight across, then screw the water heater into the studs and the wall.

Personally, I would put a 15mm plywood board, screw it into the studs where possible, attach the rest with molly. Then attach the water heater to it.
How large of a board do you recommend? Like this according to the picture?Dowser4711 said:
