Hello,

I have some pipes in an older house that were insulated as shown in the picture below. A lot of it was worn out and I planned to replace it. Now I can't find any insulation that can cover all the pipes in one go. The pipes are close to each other, making it difficult with the usual pipe insulations.

Anyone have any tips?

  • Old pipes insulated with worn fabric and paper material in an attic. Pipes are closely installed together, making replacement challenging.
Net mat and wire. Worked already 50 years ago.

What is that pipe?

What kind of pipes are they?
The two white ones are for tap water and the two in copper color are for the radiators. A mix of cold and hot pipes. Previously, they were wrapped with that purple insulation you see in the picture. Cold pipes can cause condensation, so maybe they should be wrapped in some plastic or something. Not sure how important it is.

The tap water pipe can get a bit cold, but it's usually not a problem since you don't run water for long periods at a time.
I would have gone with something like this:

Do you think this one works? https://www.hornbach.se/shop/Isoler...MIyJSWqZDt8gIVBTcYCh0mQA1xEAQYASABEgJHrvD_BwE

I'm at hornbach now:rofl: the one you sent seems difficult to find... and expensive. Thought I might get the purchase done today.

It's probably the same as the one I linked to, essentially.

Seems so...

  • rolls of Rockwool insulation wrapped in plastic
Actually, it's not great to have pipes in the cold attic. If there is a prolonged power outage when it's at its coldest, insulation alone won't suffice. But it seems to have lasted many years so far.
I also had water pipes in the cold attic but moved them into the floor structure under the heated space since the floors were removed anyway.

Thanks for the info. No relocation of the pipes right now, at least, we'll see later on.
