Hello

I am considering ordering a custom-made U-shaped staircase. How do you assemble such a kit?
Do you build it on the floor and raise it in one piece or take it piece by piece?

the stair installers I have seen attach the outer stringers first, then the treads with posts underneath. The inner stringers are screwed on last, followed by the railing, etc. Looked smooth with the right accessories.

Thanks, feels reasonable and "doable" in my case.

How do you attach the ladder to the side against the wall?

I assume the original poster will get a detailed description when they order a kit. But I'm curious!

Is it a traditionally constructed staircase with steps dovetailed into the stringer. Then you use angled screws under the steps where you can't reach them otherwise.

Diagram showing a traditional staircase assembly with a red arrow indicating the position where screws are inserted from beneath to secure the steps.

Yes... or actually, all steps should be attached in that way if it's traditional, but few do so nowadays.

One or two screws per step?
