Plastering with gypsum is not recommended for the exterior wall (if it is underground) as it will eventually mold.

If it is underground, you can do the following:
I was recommended to first apply a layer of primer, plaster with the fixet, then primer again, and finally the tiles.
(Have asked a tiler).

If it is above ground, it is still convenient to plaster with the fixet.

Gypsum plaster does not mold. However, it is not suitable for a wall with penetrating moisture.

Did the tiler ask you what kind of plaster you have on the walls today? If not, then it is not certain that it is suitable to plaster with the fixet or, for that matter, to set tiles. It all depends on what you have there today.

My walls were untreated (extension below ground with Leca) and it was there I was recommended to apply primer/fix/primer/fix and then tiles.

I initially applied gypsum plaster which I later had to chip away.

To get a smooth wall, I think this description is good http://www.finja.se/aktuell/pdfny/gipsputs_produktfolder.pdf
