My flat garage roof is covered with rubber membrane (and gravel on top). I am about to make a new opening/passage in the roof about 150mm in diameter and naturally want to make it watertight. It is a concrete pillar that will go through the roof. I have a roll (several meters x 30cm) of rubber membrane left by the previous homeowner. See image!
My thought is to use this for the task if needed.
How do you join rubber membrane of this type? Vulcanize, glue, weld? Can it be done yourself? The material is about 1mm thick and elastic...

  • A rolled-up sheet of black rubber membrane, approximately 1mm thick, used for roofing. It appears slightly dusty and is resting on a shelf.

It's probably fairly certain to be EPDM membrane, which can be glued in various ways, https://www.boanas.se/dammduk/lim-och-lagningssatser-dammduk.html

Thank you! They seem to have suitable glue. Brilliant!
