Hello!

HELP!

We have replaced a window in our Småland house built in 2004. The carpenter (a friend, not a company) who did this had to remove one of the existing window jambs. It didn't go well as it cracked, since it was made out of some sort of porous particle board covered with white foil. It was also glued with PL-400 or something similar. He went straight to the lumberyard to buy a new one, but the problem was that they had never seen such a window jamb, so he came back empty-handed. We have 6 windows in this room plus a patio door, and all of them have this type of jamb. It would look really ugly if one of the windows had a different type.

The window jamb in question is about 2.1 cm thick and 1.7 dm wide. It has slightly rounded corners and, as mentioned, was made of a foiled particle board piece.

I also checked around at Byggmax, Jem & Fix, and Cheapy as well as Bauhaus but could not find this window jamb anywhere. What everyone offers is black white-lacquered "allist" but it's about 1 cm thick, our list is double that and is only semi-matte, i.e., not so mirror-shiny and a bit rougher to the touch.

Thanks in advance
S

Unfortunately, it seems that our houses (I myself live in a Modulent house) have somewhat mediocre window reveals as standard - poorly foil-clad chipboard.
The ones you buy in the store are MDF boards that are 16mm thick and have an optional (rip-able) depth.

The alternative is to ask Smålandsvillan if they can sell/give you a reveal.

Make your own from MDF boards, there are several threads describing how they have done it. But I wonder why replace windows that are not even 10 years old?
