I should have asked the craftsman when he was here how he drilled holes in the walls (for electrical cable) right next to the wall, but I forgot. Can someone tell me how to drill a (about 10 mm) hole right next to the wall? The problem is that the drill itself forces the bit out, creating an angle.

One measures and drills from both ends. /rörmokarn

So it becomes an angle that meets in the middle of the wall?

Yes, in principle. Therefore, it is advantageous to drill slightly larger than what you really need.

Do you mean like this?

Yes, that's how you do it.

Then it helps to choose a machine whose construction is such that you get the smallest angle possible. Eccentric head or angle head can sometimes make it easier.

With a long drill, depending on its size, you can also bend it slightly while drilling. This way, you avoid drilling from two directions (y)

I remembered a unique drill brace I saw in a picture once. It might work for the purpose, but it may not be something easily available today.

Yep, in the USA, so-called flex bits that are very flexible are also popular. They can be ordered from, for instance, Amazon and eBay. With these, you can get into edges and corners and still drill straight.

Festool with eccentric chuck.

Different types of angle chucks and offset attachments on display. There are different variants of angle chucks and those with side displacement towards the edge.

Why specifically Festool?
