My sister has a balcony in her apartment and is wondering if we have any suggestions for how she can solve her problem. I thought I have to ask you in the forum.

She wants to build a wooden wall so she doesn't have to see the corrugated plastic wall she's tired of.

She wants horizontal rough-sawn boards that she can, for example, paint with falu black. The measurement is 178 x 245 cm.

But since it's a rental, she preferably doesn't want to drill into the wall, the underlying plastic, or the balcony floor or ceiling.

She wonders how to get something to stay put without drilling. Tips?

A green chair on a balcony with a brick wall and corrugated plastic wall, featuring a wall-mounted lamp and a small wooden table with a lantern.

This is how she wants the final result to look, although she doesn't need to attach anything to the wall.

Balcony with a corrugated plastic wall, worn chairs, a white lantern, and the idea of wooden planks painted black, as discussed in a renovation forum.

Buy steel studs that lie against the floor and ceiling, and then wedge vertical wooden studs that lock the steel studs in place. Then just screw/nail the panel onto this.

Good suggestion. Thanks! Just so I understand. Do you think 2 vertical wooden studs are enough, or should she add more if the width is 178 cm? Should she place the studs at the edges or a bit inward? Should the studs be 45x95 or 45x70 or something else?

easier to take two panel pieces on the height that you make some hooks in which you hook onto the metal profiles that are there? Then screw horizontal panel onto it.
Can be the same dimension for everything, 22x 120 or whatever you choose.

Two panel pieces that make hooks in?

That sounds simpler and thus more interesting since I don't think the wall needs to be particularly strong (other than being able to withstand wind) but I'm not quite following.

yes, you have two or more transverse profiles on the existing wall. Place two panel pieces vertically, and then simply carve some hooks that allow you to latch the panel length. You lift the panel piece, slide it in, and lower it down. Once everything is screwed together, you can just lift it off later. Maybe it's enough to drive in a nail, clip off the head, and bend it downwards at 90 degrees.
