I was thinking of replacing the posts for the carport as they are starting to rot at the bottom. In the middle of the pedestal, there's a round iron rod sticking up, which goes up into the post.
The iron rod is kind of rusted through, and after carefully tapping away loose rust, I notice that the rod is loose. It could be pulled out of the pedestal.
So now I have a pedestal with a hole in the middle.
How should I attach the new post to the pedestal?
Post shoe + anchor compound in the hole?
The posts are intended to be 95x95.
