I have aluminum fronts on the windows and they are set in a brick wall. Now I want to attach a trim that covers the gap between the window and the brick. How is it best to attach it - I would prefer to avoid screwing into the aluminum. Considering attaching with silicone. Does anyone have the same situation - how have you attached the trim?

We usually rivet on the metal lining. But that gives you the same hole in the window as a screw would have made.

ok

I missed mentioning that I need to have trim 25x25 white-painted so riveting probably won't work I guess - I'll have to try attaching with silicone when I've painted the trim

PL400?
What doesn't work with duct tape works with PL400 and vice versa :)

I also believe more in some type of adhesive, I'm not sure if PL400 works outdoors as well but I seem to recall there is a variant of it for outdoor use.

Is it not possible to attach to the wall? Avoid attaching to the window.
Possibly angle screw a strip/regel in the ventilation between the brick and the wall and attach the smyg to it.

I screwed through the trim into the brick. Also ran a bead of caulk between the window and the trim but that was probably overkill.

You have chosen brick and aluminum-clad windows to be maintenance-free?
Then why do you want a wooden strip that needs painting?
I would have used metal sheeting with screws or pop rivets in the aluminum cladding.
