I have been thinking a lot about whether the stability of floating docks is greatly affected by the anchoring. I have a floating dock approximately 7m long and 1.5m wide. It has a vertically movable attachment in a pipe at the outer end. The question is "How do the land anchorage chains affect the stability?" Should they be crossed or does it not matter? Does the weight of the chains play a greater role? Diagram showing two anchoring setups for a floating dock: one with parallel chains and one with crossed chains, both labeled "Rörstolpe.

Soon the ice will settle, making it stable, but how should one think ahead for spring?
 
I don't know if it matters, but in the boat club where I have my boat, they are usually in a cross.

In a crosswise manner, the angle becomes larger to counteract the wind/wave sway that occurs on a floating structure by the shore. Otherwise, there will be no difference in the rocking when you step on it. Preferably more bottom pipe at the ridge if possible.
