Now I have searched and searched but can't find - how do you best add external insulation to siporex planks? We have gables that protrude on the long sides and are thinking of taking the opportunity to add insulation to our house from '64 when we replace the facade. How do we do it? Type of studs/insulation/air gap etc.? We are considering standing painted/stained/varnished wooden planks as a facade.
A facade board/West Coast board, furring strips, and paneling might feel simplest. EPS is somewhat better if there is a lot of moisture movement, but it's not something I would want on my house, so I would rather make an effort to seal on the inside if I thought it was needed. Plaster and paint are sufficient for regular rooms.
External insulation is quite uncomplicated, and there are many different methods that work.

Thank you! I'll contact them immediately.
What I've been worried about is creating moisture that can migrate inward (I think).

That is basically impossible. The only possible problem I see is that if the wall were very permeable, the moisture from the inside could cause issues on the outside, but I don't see any direct risk here. Lightweight concrete with mineral wool on the outside is not an uncommon solution, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it looked like that in your attic.

Fantastic. The next step will be to fix the ventilation in the attic, which we will block with this... but that will be for later - again, thanks!
