I am planning to build a larger bathroom on the upper floor, and I now want to open up and use the large space that is between the wall and the outer roof today.
But how much needs to be "left" for insulation and air gap, etc., on what will become the wall and what is the ceiling? The walls will then be tiled...
How do I insulate the new wall/ceiling correctly?

Hello Jessica!
If I understand correctly, you're thinking of using some kind of "kattvind" as living space. I've done it myself and have an air gap of about 5 cm. It depends on how far it is to the actual attic/ridge. If it's just a couple of meters, about three cm is enough, but most recommend about 5 cm. Then comes the insulation—I used 21 cm of insulation myself. I think that's just right; you could probably go down to 19 cm if you want. The total becomes 26 cm + chipboard or similar and plaster = 28.5 cm.
Just get started
Best regards, Luppe

Thank you Luppe, how much does it need to be in the ceiling? I'm thinking of installing skylights and when I look at the others I have, there's quite a lot to be saved in the ceiling where insulation and such should be. Do you know anything about that too?

Hello Jessica.
I don't think I understand what you mean. The skylight, should it be in the slanted wall? In that case, you build a framework with about 28 cm width, as thick as the insulation and the air gap will be. In the attic, the insulation should be at least 40 cm, preferably 50 cm for optimal performance.
Best regards, Luppe ::)
