How should I safely attach stairs to the loft?
Hello. I am building a holiday home with a loft. I have bought a second-hand wooden staircase (heavy, heartwood), once made by a local carpenter. With a bit of fixing, it will be the exact right height.
I will attach the staircase to a floor joist that's easily accessible, no floor yet. So I can screw through the entire joist without any issue. The joist is 45×210. How do I ensure a secure mounting? What length of screws? What kind of screws? I've been searching for a while and can't find an answer to this (for those who know) simple question.
Grateful for help!

Thanks for the response! Then I don't have to risk the staircase collapsing onto the floor when I carry up heavy furniture and building materials.Immobil said:
However, I'm still nervous. Should I also secure it with angle brackets and anchor screws?
I'm going to build a half-wall there. It ends at the height of the loft. 70 stud. It's open to the peak where the stairs will be. I've also considered resting the stairs on studs at the top against the floor. Belt and suspenders, I think. But I haven't seen any drawings, etc., on how this is usually done.Immobil said:
