Hi! I've been searching through the forum for a few days but haven't found the answers I'm looking for. :-/

I live in the countryside and have a typical wooden barn over 200m2. I'm planning to build a garage inside the barn about 40-50 m2 so I have a proper place to work.
But how should I design the walls? Those I've talked to say double drywall, staggered installation, only! But can I do something else considering the poor properties of drywall regarding impact, bumps, and mounting shelves, etc.? Is it possible to use different types of wood panels?
What about the ceiling?

Very grateful for any help.

Ronnie

Double gypsum is for fire protection, but it should be possible to put MDF behind the gypsum boards so there is something to attach to. Otherwise, you simply have to attach to the studs.

Plaster is all well and good, but is plaster the only way to achieve the right fire protection?
I've seen some responses saying that even OSB and chipboard can provide approved fire protection in certain cases and in the right combination with other materials. :-?

Double gypsum with stone wool insulation for fire protection. MDF, I don't think anyone puts behind gypsum as it is probably the most expensive board available... Almost anyway. Also not very good for screwing into. Plywood-OSB-Particleboard is probably the quality order.

Of course, I meant OSB.

But then I have to install OSB, Gypsum, Gypsum counted from the frame? Is that the only thing that is approved?
Someone previously mentioned that even combustible materials provide fire protection and that, for example, OSB and chipboard offer protection.
As I have interpreted some previous threads, it should somehow combine, for example, gypsum, OSB, mineral wool... ??? But how... :o

In my garage, I put up concrete fiber boards instead of drywall on the walls... I don't know about the fire protection in these, but it should be darn good...!? unfortunately, they cost a lot more money than drywall....

but they are really strong....
