Part of our house is built with walls where the brick is exposed. In some places, there are gaps between the windows and the wall. The construction is 40 years old. I don't know if it was poorly built, or if it can be considered normal wear and tear. In any case, I want to fill the holes before winter comes. How do I do that best?

I am attaching a photo taken of a larger gap from the inside and another photo taken from the outside.

Close-up of a large gap between a brick wall and a window frame from the inside, showing signs of wear in a 40-year-old structure. Large gap between a brick wall and window frame with visible dust and debris, showing deterioration in a 40-year-old house construction.

I would probably have mixed some bruk and filled in from the outside and then sealed with foam from the inside.
