How long to build up pressure in a new compressor??

Should it take over 20 min to build up pressure? My new Herkules Air Compressor 200/10/24 has been running for 20 min and the needle hasn't moved at all. I connected the nail gun and thought it would be ready to go right away, but no.

Have I done something wrong?
Does it take a long time to "fill"/build up pressure the first time?
Approximately, how long does it take?

Make sure the air vent is closed, it shouldn't take that long.

1 minute maybe? Then it depends on the size of the tank, but it usually matches the size of the engine.

20 minutes? Never. If the tank is empty, it shouldn't take more than a minute.

It's not good for the compressor to run that long either.

Check under the tank, there should be a valve there that might be open.

1-5 minutes depending on the size of your tank.

Thank you for the help. It was so simple that the valve underneath was open. Thought it was closed when it came from the factory.

Don't forget to open it and release the air and condensation water when you're done using the compressor and lower the pressure on the pressure regulator.
