How is a standing batten panel 120 batten 120 baseboard nailed
I have searched online but see different answers.
3 inch zigzag on the underboard and 4 inch on the cover? Does it matter if you use 3 inches on both sides instead of zigzagging?
Next question, how far in on the underboard do you place the 3-inch nail, is there not a risk of cracking when there is so little room (20mm overlap)?
Anyone have tips on a film where it is shown pedagogically?

The reason for not nailing on both sides is to avoid cracks in the boards due to size changes with heat and cold.
If you place the nail 15-20 mm from the edge, there are no problems, but near a short end, you can move it in to at least 20 mm or a little more.

The bottom board is nailed with a row of nails in the middle. Check here for many good tips, https://www.byggbeskrivningar.se/pd...Byggbeskrivningar.ashx?File=8829&Doc=Broschyr
You might get lucky and it doesn't crack, or some of the panel boards might crack, "if it works, it works". 😉 Wood/timber moves and that's part of its characteristic.Intet said:
