I have such a normal type of attic hatch where you fold down one short side and then unfold the ladder.

Now I need to put moldings between the hatch and the ceiling, and you have to install the molding so that it's possible to open the hatch.

I thought maybe someone else has done the same thing and can help me with how to install the moldings best and most aesthetically pleasing?

I routed down 13.5 mm into half of the material, so that the plaster was level with the remaining edge of the panel. Over this, a paper strip and filler. No trim at all, in other words.

I'm in a similar situation. My hatch is at the same height as the plasterboard in the ceiling. Initially, I considered nailing the trim to the hatch. The question is, how do you handle the back edge in that case? If there's trim there, you can't open the hatch.

What have you done if you haven't plastered?
