I am going to lay stone, like byasten, around the house including entrances. The entrances have a vertical post in pressure-treated wood and I'm a little unsure about the best solution for paving around these. The main problem is that the plinths are a bit too low in relation to the foundation (not very visible in this picture) so the post will end up a few decimeters below the finished paving level.

My question is really whether the pressure-treated wood can withstand this construction, buried in the ground? Does it work if you place gravel/stone next to the wood for drainage, or do you need to take more significant measures like cutting the post and casting a higher plinth?

  • Vertical wooden pillars next to a house, with scaffolding at the side and gravel on the ground, under construction for stone placement.
I would make a small frame around the pillar so that it can remain as it is with a little space around it.
