Hello!

The previous homeowners thought it was a good idea to have a window in the bathroom. We've grown tired of it and want to get rid of it. Unfortunately, we don't have the budget to renovate the entire bathroom and tile it over.

The current plan is to place 6mm renovation plasterboard on the outside and paint the glass blocks on the inside. Do any of you home builders have any ideas on how we could do it without renovating the entire bathroom? Has anyone experienced painting on glass blocks?

Best regards, New homeowners😀

  • Narrow frosted glass block window in a partially renovated bathroom wall, surrounded by unfinished plaster and tools on a hardwood floor.
  • Hallway with wooden floors, glass block window, and partially unfinished walls, showing a door. Cleaning supplies and a cardboard walkway are visible.

The current plan is to put 6mm renovation gypsum on the outside and paint the glass concrete on the inside. Do you other homeowners have any ideas on how to proceed without renovating the entire bathroom? Has anyone experienced painting on glass concrete?

Go you! Glass concrete should be banned in 2024! Best regards, The Style Police.
Seriously, maybe a gypsum board on the other side as well, which you can paint or tile.

Haha! Agree! However, I think this one is from 2003-2004, perhaps more okay then?🤣 Especially not towards a bathroom 😅 The downside if we plasterboard on the inside is that the tiles have "texture" 🤔

Install a LED strip that can change colors to provide different lighting in the bathroom?

What do you have in mind? Placing the LED strip behind the renovation plasterboard from the outside? Could be stylish and unique!😀

Also uploading a picture from the inside of the bathroom.

  • Badrum with tiled walls, featuring a vertical strip of glass blocks, a white shelving unit with toiletries, baskets, and a doorway to another room.
Yes, I would probably have kept it on the inside but done something on the outside. Light could be an option. An image of some kind that shows through the glass is another.

Yes, you could try it before you build, as it costs little and could provide an opportunity to change the bathroom depending on the occasion.

Luckily, it didn't look as terrible from the bathroom ;)

Yes, I will at least try to test and see how it turns out!🙂

You can run the power supply to the LED strip behind the ceiling molding through the ceiling to the attic (looks like there's an attic hatch on the left) 🙂
Otherwise, you might be able to cut out the glass blocks and instead put up some simple shelves inside the bathroom
