We are going to build a terrace railing/replace (in parts) indoors this winter. Should we dry the wood first? When can we prime and paint it? If it becomes mild, we thought we could also assemble it. What should we consider? It is about 15 degrees where we are building.

Is it untreated wood you will use or is it pressure-treated?

Untreated.

The wood should have a maximum moisture content of 16% when you paint. Just keep in mind that there is a risk of the wood drying too quickly if you have it indoors, which can lead to cracks and deformation.
