Hi!

I'm planning to install furring strips (28x70) today and then later put up drywall ceilings. I've searched and watched lots of videos to try to understand where to place the first furring strip in relation to the wall, meaning how much gap there should be - but I can't find anything clear anywhere.

Should it be flush against the wall or have a gap? Even if I place it flush against the wall and then go CC30 thereafter, the first drywall sheet will have a 3.5cm gap against the wall, which I guess isn't desirable. Or is it intended not to have CC30 between the first two furring strips so that the drywall is as close to the wall as possible - and then proceed with CC30?

The gap the red arrow is pointing to here should be avoided, right? This illustration is CC30 all the way.

Illustration of a ceiling panel installation with a red arrow indicating the gap between the panel and wall, questioning spacing for drywall setup.

Thanks!

Thanks!
Place the first one completely against the wall.
The second from the wall you place at cc 26.5 from the first, then cc 30.

Amateur answer:
First mitigation block against the wall.
Second CC300 - (70/2)
Rest CC300

Follow the record manufacturer's assembly instructions.

Thanks, sounds sensible! And then do the same at the end if it doesn't fit evenly. Let's go with that!

It is very unlikely that a set of studs, battens, whatever will "even out" on both sides, so to speak.

If you start with a whole board, you should first check how the last board will end up. If the room's measurement is such that the last board will only be a few centimeters, it might be better to start with a half board.
