Hello everyone!

A little over a year ago, we had a beautiful granite staircase installed on our property. It's really been an upgrade, but one thing bothers me a bit: the gaps between the stringers and the step blocks (see pictures).

Gaps between granite staircase blocks with leaves and debris in between, highlighting maintenance concerns and need for sealing material.

Gaps between the granite stair blocks and stringers, collecting debris and leaves, shown next to a bush.

As you can see, and surely understand, these gaps are real traps for debris, leaves, and other things, so I would very much like to fill them with something. This would make it much easier to keep clean, and I could even hose down the stairs.

I've thought about some kind of sealant, but I'm thinking if the parts of the staircase move even the slightest relative to each other, it will crack. I've also considered PL400, but it will probably be difficult to make it look nice and its color isn't that appealing.

Do you have any suggestions on what I can do?

I drove tec7 in anthracite

Tec7 I have heard of...did not know, however, that it comes in different colors. I image-googled "tec7 antracit" but did not get any good results showing how it looks. Would you be able to take a photo of how it looks at your place henkepenk?

I have now emailed Novatec (the manufacturer of Tec7) and asked them which color fits best with granite, will see what their answer will be.

While waiting for that, I thought I’d take the opportunity to ask the forum for tips on whether I can backfill the gaps with something. It would feel a bit more economical not to have to use Tec7 to fill the entire cavities, which in some places are quite large.

Stone dust should work, right?

I have never used stenmjöl...but it sounds like it is very powdery.
