They stiffen the lecamuren laterally and prevent it from bulging inward. A basement wall is exposed to earth pressure. Walls above ground for lateral loads due to wind.
Ok, then I understand. Thanks for the nice explanation.

Just when I thought everything was okay, I discovered something that worries me. I have now removed a piece of chipboard where the old portal was and can see that on the other side of the portal there is also a chipboard. So far so good. But when I removed a chipboard to the right of the portal, I see that there is 45 mm insulation behind and behind that a approx. 70mm thick lightweight concrete wall. The house was thus built with a 70 mm leca wall and at a later time someone sawed up a portal in the lightweight concrete and put studs and a chipboard on the outside of the lightweight concrete. Probably to make the wall a little thicker so that the portal also becomes thicker. Then someone sealed the portal with a chipboard. Now to my question. Can I remove the wall now that I've seen it's made of lightweight concrete or is it part of the house's construction? That is, load-bearing or supportive in some other way?

Can you take a picture of the pillar that braces the outer wall next to the wall you want to tear down? On the opposite side of the house, there is no such wall? Do you have a basement on that side as well or is it a split-level?

Here comes the picture. I don't quite understand your question about the opposite side. It's a basement throughout the whole house.
