What can be recommended to improve soundproofing in this case
is there any rule that says you must meet today's soundproofing requirements in a standard-enhancing renovation, e.g., BBR
What does this have to do with soundproofing regarding your earlier question about whether there is drywall on the walls?
One can renovate as they wish, improve and redo some parts without redoing everything. But as for rental buildings and rent increases, this might not be the best forum since it's mainly people who own their homes that are here. The Tenants' Association probably knows better.
