How do I fix the plaster in the basement?
Hello! We have just drained the basement that had moisture problems and once we've dried it out, it's time to fix the walls. I poked off some loose pieces and then noticed these small threads that seem to be of wood/bamboo-ish character. What is this? Is it just a matter of plastering on all the empty spaces?
The basement is from 1926 and I suspect it has been a long time since anything was done to the walls.

Looks like a kloasongvägg, plank wall with plastered reed mat, but without the crack panel, see here: https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kloasongvägg
If there are moisture problems, you probably shouldn't have either plank or reed as they are organic materials that can mold and rot.

Thank you for the response!
If it is not rotten and you decide to repair (and not demolish), you should knock away the really loose parts and hollows. Then water thoroughly and apply new lime plaster. Be careful not to apply too thick layers.
Cement plaster does not work. It is too hard and will come off from the substrate.
