Need help! When we moved in 10 years ago, an electrician "cut" the cable to the lamppost next to the path to our house because the ground nearby was live and the post had been off for a long time. Now we want to install a new post on the same concrete foundation and were thinking of locating the entries to 1) the concrete foundation and 2) the house. Dug pretty deep, 40cm down, around the foundation but can't find anything. Did they run the cable directly underneath into the foundation in the late '60s? I don't even know where to start looking for the entry to the house. Any tips?

  • A dug hole in grassy ground with soil piled nearby in a red bucket, possibly searching for a cable entry point under a concrete base.
  • Garden path with solar lights, red bucket, shovel, and dug-up area on grass, near driveway with parked caravan and red van in the background.
  • Front entrance with a wooden door, concrete steps, and small pumpkins. A garden with plants and a light fixture on a white brick wall beside the steps.
How the cable was routed to the concrete mount/fixture should depend on how the things were constructed. It's hard to guess remotely how the cable entered the mount and foundation. Especially if it's equipment that's over 50 years old.

Maybe the cable was routed to some storage building next to the house; I don't think it goes into the foundation of the house.
