Hi! I'm in the process of completely renovating the boy's room and have a quick question! I have a small room that I plan to turn into a "closet room." We're mainly considering installing a type of "Elfa" shelving system, possibly with a sliding door in front. The problem is that the chimney is against the wall where the shelves will be mounted. How do you attach the tracks in a good way? Is it okay to drill? Has anyone done something similar?

Attached is a picture that might not be the best, but it might help to understand how it's going to look! Thanks for the answers!

Other suggestions are also welcome!!!

Are you using the chimney? In that case, you should probably check with the chimney sweep on how you can build against it...

Yes, we use it. Run with pellets here at home!

The chimneysweep, as I said. And he will most likely say no.

100 mm distance to combustible materials generally applies in all cases to/around the ducts used for the fireplace.

Is it then okay if the masonry stock is more than 100mm thick from the actual flue? To then build directly against it?

No, not against the channels used for the fireplace. Possibly your chimney sweep might agree to replace the 100 mm air with 100 mm rock wool, outside of which you can then build. But free airflow is among the best you can have to protect yourself against fire.

It is not usually the bricks in the wall itself that break but rather that cracks occur in the joint/mortar between the bricks. A full brick wall is obviously better than a half brick, but still.
