Hi, today we have asphalt in our garage and we are going to renovate a part at the very back of the garage where we will remove the asphalt and then cast a slab and put up a wall.

I’ve tried Googling and looking for videos but can’t find any good results.

My idea was to remove the asphalt using an asphalt saw, and I've been looking for one to rent but can't find a company north of Stockholm that rents to private individuals. Does anyone know of one?

After that, dig out a bit and lay down macadam before casting a slab. Should some kind of edge beam / L-element be placed at the transition between the asphalt edge and where I am going to cast a slab? The garage walls currently stand on slabs around, which according to neighbors, absorb a lot of moisture when it's wet. Should something be put between these and the concrete as well, or should one just fill in and cast right up to them?

The idea is then to build up a framework and construct a room a little above the new slab.

Do you have any tips and ideas on what to keep in mind and not miss?

I think YRC rental rents out to private individuals.

However, it's difficult with your setup because you need to dig out more than where the slab should be in order to set the form, and you can't dig exactly to the asphalt edge because then it won't have any support underneath.

Thanks @Robert-san01, I completely missed them, but they seem to have exactly what I need!

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by needing to dig out the slab more than I can to set the form.

Do you mean that if I tear away the asphalt and then dig precisely at the edge, I undermine the ground? But won't it get support if, for example, you insert an edge element, or am I thinking completely wrong?
