Where the wood stove used to be, I plan to place a cleaning cupboard and wardrobe against the chimney.

I plan to apply some B-mortar first so the chimney holds together after I remove the base of the wood stove.

Can I place the cabinet frames directly against the chimney, or should I have an air gap behind?

It is the cold side of the chimney with an unused flue for the former wood stove and then the duct from the kitchen I plan to run a duct to the new stove a few meters away.

Previous kitchen cabinets and a wooden wall went all the way against the chimney and it has worked for 70 years.

Chimney corner with exposed brick and plaster, where a wood stove once stood. Shelving and a light fixture are visible on the walls.

Why wouldn't you dare to do it?
It works here in this house.
