Today I have a hall extension whose corner is located 90cm from a rock knoll (which is about 2 meters high). I am going to completely renovate this, insulate it, etc., and the question is how close the outer wall can be. One thing is that it's practical to be able to pass through, but if you disregard that...

I really don't want to compromise on the interior dimensions but want to build outward x number of cm...

Doesn't the distance to the bang depend on how often you pass by, and if you need to get by with large things?
 
If you build it in stone, can you go as close as you want? In wood, it might already be too close?

It is possible to remove/scale the bergsknallen if you want to take that route.
 
I don't need to be able to pass with large things, what I was most worried about are potential problems with the house wall near the rock wall.

Maybe it's already too close today... what do I know... Is it feasible to use silent dynamite on a 2 meter high wall 2 meters wide and about 50cm-1m deep... i.e. remove 1-2 cubic meters of rock...

A tip is to invest in ptools rock splitting. Perfect conditions with a ready wall to work from.


The little I've tried with expanding mortar, I found it expensive, unpredictable, and that the resulting stones are too large to handle.
 
hmm ok and what does this mean? I suppose it's not something you can do yourself... No inspection needed afterwards etc?

You can perform it after training on the equipment, and possibly a permit from the police is needed nowadays, I believe.

I don't know what it costs to hire someone, you would need to get quotes for that.

If you do it yourself, it might cost around 300-350 SEK per hole, assuming a hole every 30cm.

Then there's the additional cost of renting, for example, a compressor and drill.

This is just a rough estimate.

There are no vibrations that propagate, so inspections at neighbors, etc. are not needed.

I have personally blasted right next to a foundation wall, etc., and it was not noticeable.

Absolutely. Nowadays, ptools indeed requires you to purchase their equipment, and the training/license is included.

Sometimes this is cheaper than hiring a company.

I got my training/license for free many years ago, although I never bought the equipment, but I've rented it many times and had fun ;)

There are members on the forum who have purchased this equipment, and maybe you can hire them for the right price :)

A couple of hours! Doesn't sound too bad... I guess you have to apply for a license then... how long do you think that takes?

You get it on site, at least I did

The bad part about this is that it costs money and that it costs money

The fun part is that it goes bang and you can break rocks ;)
