I am going to convert from 2 garage doors to one large garage door at 460cm. I need to remove a load-bearing wall between the current doors and need help with the dimensions of glulam/steel beam.

The wall is made of concrete and it supports an I-beam that the garage roof rests on. The garage roof is 8 meters wide and 7 meters long and covered with sheet metal.

The new door is 35cm lower than the old one and I hope that will be enough space for the beam. I feel like I'm explaining it a bit awkwardly, but I hope you will understand after you look at the pictures.

In one of my sketches, I have shown how the door will be mounted approximately

  • Garage interior showing two doors, a ladder, and a Swedish flag. Ceiling includes lights; tools and fire extinguisher visible with measuring stick foreground.
  • Hand-drawn sketch on paper showing measurements for a garage conversion, including dimensions labeled "78," "248," "220," "267," and "393.
  • Drawing of planned garage renovation showing dimensions for converting two doors into one large door, with measurements in centimeters.
