Hello!
My first post....;)

I am renovating an apartment and have torn out all the old moldings, trims, etc. In a wide opening in a concrete wall, there isn't a cut hole but rather a chiseled hole, which makes the edges very uneven. See the photo.
I would now like to make the edges completely smooth and then put up a fabric wallpaper to finally paint the entire opening in the same color as the walls, i.e., completely without moldings or reveals in the opening itself.
I am thinking that I can attach a "form board" on each side of the wall and then fill the unevenness with filler to make it smooth. See the attached sketch of a cross-section of how I have planned. The thickness of the filler will be about 1.5-2 cm at the thickest points.

Questions:

Is it possible to do it this way?

What type of Filler, Compound, etc. is suitable to use?

Anything else to consider?

Grateful for your help!

  • Hand-drawn sketch showing cross-section of a concrete wall opening, labeled "130 mm BETONG," with formboards on both sides and notes about smoothing edges.
It will probably work, but you should probably use putsbruk to start with.
